宮城県名取市に計画中のオフィス。 周囲からの視線を抑えながら、光や空といった断片のみを取り込み、外部との距離を調整している。 前面道路に正対した素直な構えと、大きく張り出した庇は、住宅地のスケールに呼応しながら来訪者を受け入れる。 しかし軒下に入ると、視線は軒天窓によって上方へ引き上げられ、その先の空へと導かれる。 外部から内部へ、そして再び外部へと、視線は一度の動きの中で往復し、内外は連続しながらも反転する。 内部は吹き抜けをもつ2層構成とし、上下階は直接見通せない関係に置かれている。 視線は遮られながらも、ハイサイドライトからの光や音、気配が緩やかに伝わり、分断と接続が同時に成立する。 2階の執務空間には、室内を横断する梁によって無柱空間が確保されている。 その上部のハイサイドライトと勾配天井が光を反射させ、1階へと導いていく。急勾配の面は、天井でありながら壁としても知覚される。 視線はその面に沿って滑り、天井を見上げる視覚はいつのまにか壁を見る視覚へと転化し、さらに軒天窓を越えて外部へと抜けていく。 この建築において、空間は一望されない。視覚は断片として経験され、それらが知覚の中で接続されることで、実際の寸法を超えた広がりが立ち上がる。 ここでは、「見ること」によって空間を把握するのではなく、見えない部分を想像によって補完することで空間が成立している。 閉じながら開き、分断しながら接続するその関係の中で、このオフィスは物理的な広さとは異なる次元の空間を獲得しようとしている。

An office planned in Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture. While suppressing sightlines from the surroundings, the design admits only fragments — light, sky — carefully calibrating its distance from the exterior. The straightforward stance facing the front road and the deeply projecting eaves respond to the residential scale while welcoming visitors. Yet once beneath the eaves, the gaze is drawn upward by a soffit window, led toward the sky beyond.

From exterior to interior, and back to exterior again — the eye travels this journey in a single movement, and inside and outside, though continuous, are inverted.

The interior is organized as a two-story section with a void, the upper and lower floors held in a relationship where neither looks directly into the other. Sightlines are interrupted, yet light, sound, and presence drift gently down from the high-side windows above — separation and connection existing simultaneously.

In the second-floor workspace, a beam spanning the room secures a column-free space. Above it, a high-side window and sloped ceiling reflect and channel light down to the first floor. The steeply pitched surface is perceived as both ceiling and wall at once. The eye glides along its plane, and the act of looking up at a ceiling imperceptibly shifts into the act of looking at a wall — and continues outward, passing through the soffit window to the exterior beyond.

In this building, space is never surveyed whole. Vision is experienced in fragments, and it is through their connection within perception that an expansiveness beyond actual dimensions comes into being. Here, space is not grasped by seeing — it is constituted by the imagination filling in what cannot be seen.

Closing while opening, severing while connecting — within that relationship, this office reaches toward a spatial dimension distinct from physical size.
